Sunday Drive

I wanted to get out of the house for a while today. I decided, since I hadn't been to Reddish Knob for probably over a decade or so, I'd take a drive. The higher I got, the more snow there was on the mountain. I made it within about 1.25 miles and there was too much snow for my little car to handle. Disappointed, I turned around and headed down the mountain.
However, on my way home, I passed a farmhouse with a ton of old cars in the yard. I figured, what the heck. I stopped, walked up the the house and knocked. The gentleman looked at me strangely In my skull sweatshirt and purple bun. I introduced myself, told him I was a photographer who lived in Harrisonburg. I handed him my card. I asked if I could please take pictures of the old cars in his yard. He said, "Yes." It was photography heaven. Many more pics to come, I took a ton.

Slowly making progress on my recover of my shoulder.  When I'm out shooting, I usually hold my camera in my left hand, focusing and shooting with the right.  Because of this, I've slowly been able to shoot.  The most difficult thing is getting up and down off the ground without being able to push up with the right arm.  I did a lot of squats today, and I'm feeling it.

I'm so glad that man let me take these pics today, It appealed greatly to both the history teacher and photographer in me.

One of the things that I love about both old cars and old buildings is the attention to detail and styling.  You don't see much of that anymore.

Gotta be careful with these lens balls in the sun.  This started to burn my hand very quickly.

Winter

The past year has been challenging, between March of 2017 and January of 2018, I had two major surgeries.

There's been a lot of pain and not enough art.

In January I had shoulder surgery.  I tore my Labral tendon trying to lift weights and begin the long process of attempting to get back in shape following my hysterectomy from March of 2017.  When I went in for the MRI, there were some bone spurs, and during my surgery itself, they found a hole in my rotator cuff tendon--when it rains, it pours.

I haven't posted any pics here in a while.  I wasn't able to do much of anything from January until now. I'm slowing gaining back my strength and mobility...a little at a time.  Physical therapy is going well.   I have a small collection of photos from this winter, from here and there.  Some before my surgery and some that I've managed to create since.

This is that collection.
